The Hawker 4000 is the composite-fuselage super midsize that Raytheon built to take on the Challenger 300, and for Dallas charter clients the combination of a 3,190-nautical-mile range, a stand-up flat-floor cabin, and a fuselage constructed from carbon fiber composites makes it an interesting alternative to the all-metal super midsize platforms that dominate the DFW charter market. It never achieved the Challenger 300’s production volume, but the aircraft it became is technically capable.
Raytheon, later Hawker Beechcraft, developed the Hawker 4000 as a clean-sheet composite-fuselage super midsize jet, using carbon fiber construction to reduce weight and allow a wider cabin cross-section. Two Pratt and Whitney Canada PW308A turbofans power the aircraft to a Mach 0.84 cruise speed. The cabin seats 8 to 9 passengers with a flat floor and full stand-up height. Range is 3,190 nautical miles. Production ended in 2013. Every Hawker 4000 we arrange flies with an operator certified under FAR Part 135, the FAA rules for on-demand, for-hire charter.

Why the Hawker 4000 Fits Dallas
The Hawker 4000’s composite fuselage gives it a wider cabin than the Challenger 300 at a comparable range. For a Dallas executive team that spends three to four hours on a transcontinental leg, the interior width difference between the Hawker 4000 and the Challenger 300 is measurable. The flat floor and stand-up height throughout the cabin are competitive with any super midsize platform at this range.
At 3,190 nautical miles, the Hawker 4000 covers every major Dallas charter corridor: Dallas to New York, Dallas to Los Angeles, Dallas to Miami, Dallas to Cancun. The range number is slightly below the Challenger 350’s 3,200 nautical miles, a difference that is not operationally significant on any of those routes. For DFW corporate clients comparing the two aircraft on a standard domestic itinerary, both aircraft carry the range for those routes.
Because the Hawker 4000 is a low-volume airframe that ended production in 2013, operator availability across the Dallas market is limited compared to the Challenger 300 or 350. Finding one in charter with current ARGUS or Wyvern status, a fresh interior, and available dates for a specific DFW trip requires more lead time than the Bombardier platforms. We present it when the cabin width preference and operator condition align, not as a default super midsize recommendation.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Charter Pricing Reference
Industry hourly rates for the Hawker 4000 run $6,000 to $8,000 per hour as of 8/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.
At $6,000 to $8,000 per hour, the Hawker 4000 prices similarly to the Challenger 300. On trips where its wider composite cabin is the preference over the Challenger’s aluminum fuselage, it is worth sourcing as a comparison when lead time allows.
