Super light jets give Dallas clients more cabin than a light jet and more range than most domestic trips require. Six to ten seats, 1,840 to 2,560 nautical miles, and cabins that make a three-hour leg meaningfully more comfortable than the light category.
Typical Aircraft
The Embraer Phenom 300 is the most available aircraft in this category and the one we most often quote first. The Bombardier Learjet 45 and 45XR bring speed and up to nine seats. The Israel Aircraft Industries Westwind I and Westwind II carry as many as ten at a light-jet equivalent hourly rate.
When Super Light Jets Fit the Dallas Trip
Dallas to New York or Miami with a working payload, Dallas to Aspen or Jackson Hole, and the Dallas to Cabo San Lucas corridor with comfortable range and no fuel stop. The Westwind II extends to 2,560 nautical miles, covering the Gulf Coast without a stop.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Dallas-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Spring is the scheduling variable that drives most Dallas charter discussions. The DFW area averages 46.5 thunderstorm days per year, with May and June the most active months. Morning departures offer the clearest window; afternoon convective build-up from late April through September is what we plan around. Winter weather is infrequent but operationally significant when it arrives. A planned December or January departure should include a contingency discussion as a standard part of the booking. Summer heat adds a density altitude factor for full-payload departures. Your operator calculates performance numbers for every departure before the trip is confirmed.
The Phenom 300 charter fleet in the DFW metro is reasonably deep. On high-demand weekends during Cowboys season or around the State Fair of Texas, it is the first category to show availability when light jets are committed elsewhere. Booking a week out during those windows gives better options than booking on the day.
